The Good Kind Of Drama
CHRIS DT GORDON
Unless you avoid all contact with humans and avoid social media (if that’s the case, how are you seeing this?), you know that there is a lot of drama in our world. Whether it’s naturally occurring from a random incident or man-made, we are surrounded by emotionally charged situations.
While many, if not most, of these events threatened to spike our cortisol and blood pressure, there also exist those situations that can be considered “good” drama.
A wedding proposal. Great news about a medical situation. Even a surprise gift or message from someone you haven’t heard from in a while. All of these occurrences provide us with positive emotions that allow us to be dramatic in an enjoyable fashion.
However, those don’t happen every day, so how can we manufacture more instances of good drama?
The simple answer? Look for them.
Who are the people in your life that make you smile or help you perform your professional or personal tasks more efficiently or pleasantly? What are those tools or items that make your job easier?
Whoever or whatever they are, express a little emotion towards them. If it’s a person or an animal, share your appreciation with them in an appropriate manner. If it’s an item, maybe journal how that item helps you every day or with certain tasks.
By experiencing “good” drama, more often, we can live more enjoyable lies that help us better cope with other types of drama.
How can you be more positively dramatic today?
